  • Should I work with a graphic/web designer or copywriter first?
Copy! Copy! Copy! Always the copy :). Copy is the framework of your project. It contains the main idea, the strategy, the tone, the message. Design brings these ideas and words to life with color, flow, and layout. But the copy ALWAYS comes first. Copy directs design. And any good designer will agree.
  • How is a customer retention copywriter different from other copywriters?
As a retention copywriter, I write with a unique focus on developing and building a solid relationship with your clients. Copywriters work within marketing funnels, using words to sell and bring clients from interest to purchase. Many copywriters focus on the initial stage of acquisition, attracting customers. But the subsequent stage of retention is equally important and this focus is woven through every aspect of my work. Retention copywriting is a big-picture, large goal structure, nurturing the customer relationship so that you can enjoy lifelong loyalty and its monetary rewards.
  • Why don’t you charge by the hour?
Because it’s better for you and it’s better for me. From the outset, you know what this project is going to cost. My project fee includes an initial draft and two rounds of corrections. There will be no hidden surprises, no nickeling and diming. As long as projects stay within the original scope, the price is the price. As a copywriter, so much more goes into a project creation than the hours spent writing, such as research, interviewing, and brainstorming. And my years of experience bring you deep value no matter how long or short the project takes. (And clock ticking inhibits my creativity.)
  • How many rounds of revisions are included in your price?
Two. In all my years of copywriting, I have never had a client require more than two rounds. In fact, most are satisfied after one round of changes. My initial in-depth discovery sessions gathers enough information to ensure that my first draft is very on-target.
  • Do I have to purchase a package?
No you don’t. You can hire me for standalone projects, but it is generally more cost-effective to purchase a package and also creates a more seamless finished product.
  • How soon can I get on your calendar?
This depends on so many factors: the scope of the project, the amount of research it requires, how well your marketing strategy is developed… and of course my calendar availability. In general, I can put you on my calendar within a month, but ask me this question when you reach out to see if I can get your project in earlier!
  • What is your payment system like?
Simple and straightforward. I require a 70% deposit upon contract signing for projects $1000 and up (100% deposit for projects under $1000). No work will be initiated until this deposit is received. The subsequent 30% will be due before the final draft is sent.
  • What’s included in the project fee?
My fee includes market research, discovery session, testimonial questionnaire, first draft and two rounds of revision. Websites and brochures are wire-mapped as well to help visualize the finished project.
  • Do you have a timeline for revisions?
I sure do. Each set of revisions are due within 3-5 business days of project receipt, depending on the size of the project. It’s important to stick to these guidelines so that your project can move along and be completed- and you can put the material to work right away!
  • What is a wireframe?
A wireframe is a blueprint of your website. Instead of reviewing a google doc with pages and pages of text, a wireframe is designed to look and act like a real website. You'll still need a web designer to design and create the site for you, but the wireframe makes it easier for you to review the text and provide feedback. You'll gain a better understanding of headlines, subheadlines and section layout with a wireframe. All website projects include wireframing as part of the services I provide. • Will this work take up a lot of my time?
Not a lot, but some. The initial discovery session takes about an hour to complete. Some clients prefer to answer the questions over a phone call. Others want to write down the answers, submit and follow up with a call. And still others prefer to send me voice notes with the answers recorded. Whichever method works for you in your busy professional life, it is important to dedicate some time to providing me with this critical information. Upon receiving the first draft, it’s also important to allocate time to review the copy and provide me with specific feedback. What you won’t need to do is spend your time chasing me for updates or missed project deadlines. I am always communicative and punctual.
  • Will the project go on forever?
No, it won’t. In my proposal, I delineate a clear timeline for initial first draft completion. From there, each round of revision is afforded 5 business days. Having clear and set guidelines means that your project will be completed in a reasonable framework so that you can put your money to work.
  • How will I know what stage of the process we’re up to?
I keep you informed every step of the way. Your peace of mind and involvement is a vital part of the process.
  • Do I need to find my own graphic/ web designer?
If you don’t have a graphic or web designer, I am happy to recommend one. However, feel free to continue using any graphic/web designer you already have.
  • Do you also provide email automation and optimization services?
I have colleagues and connections that can provide you with these valuable services.
